How we got started

October 2012

The idea came from a failure

New York City was hit by Hurricane Sandy, one of the worst hurricanes in history. Farm2Me contacted Bareburger and 39 other Farm2Me food trucks they had organized for the NYC Halloween Parade in New York City, and asked if they could offer their food for free to people who had no way to eat. The Farm2Me team worked long hours to quickly make this available to displacees, and soon over 100 brands moved their food trucks and mobile popups to 35 communities in need.

January 2013

Farm2Me makes it possible for more brands to lend a hand

Farm2Me launches a Disaster response tool that lets brands around the world offer their food for free during disasters.

May 2013

Brands around the world offer their food to relief workers

September 2013

Farm2Me works with nonprofits to understand how to offer help

Partnerships are created with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help distribute emergency preparedness food to disaster relief organizations. In Delaware, Farm2Me starts working with John Hopkins University and Delaware University to provide food relief strategy for relief workers on the front lines of disaster relief around the country.
Farm2Me also starts offering tax deductible receipts to 1000+ brands who offer food for their communities or relief workers, including Federal Emergency Management Agency, Team Rubicon, and Peace Corp.
